Wearing MBT’s has improved my posture dramatically in terms of the way I walk and stand, by strengthening my back and the supporting muscles. Being an athlete who trains 6 days a week, the MBT’s have also provided my muscles an extra workout while I’m wearing them at work”
As an athlete I’m always open to ideas on keeping my body fit and healthy. When I found MBT’s I did my usual trials and put them to the test. I was aware of how I felt at the end of the day with and without them and truly believe they are a must for anyone wanting to perform at their best and live life with no aches and pains. The way they keep you working on your posture using all your core muscles, as well as the way they support your feet are the two main reasons I wear them everyday. Now with my focus on the health lifestyle arena I would highly recommend MBT’s to all my clients.
“Ever since wearing MBT’s my physiotherapist and massage therapy visits have significantly decreased. Training with past injuries created unbearable back and leg pain for me, especially after a days work. It’s true, MBT’s are like walking on air. They are unreal for standing up all day at work, post training for lactate cleaning and in every day walking. I tried going back into my normal shoes but my say doesn’t end pain free unless I have my MBT’s on”.

MBTs and Australia’s finest Paralympic athletes

I currently coach a squad of elite athletes with cerebral palsy based at the AIS in Canberra. Most of them are Paralympic medallists, world champions, and world record holders.

The level and depth of Paralympic competition is increasing all the time. To keep ahead of the rest of the world and to maintain Australia’s world status, I continually seek new and innovative modes of training.

I recently read an article about MBT and was interested in the claims that they made. Many of these fitted identically with the neurological impairments that are associated with cerebral palsy. These include:

  • Inability to activate postural muscles in anticipation of voluntary movement.
  • Diminished proprioception, and difficulties in memorising a suitable movement pattern
  • Restricted range of movement in many joints including the ankle, knee and hip.

It is anticipated that regular use of MBTs as a training tool will improve the walking gait and posture of my athletes. It will also encourage the appropriate recruitment of proprioceptive muscles. These attributes combined should help them to better perform the movements and actions required for Paralympic success at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games.
